Celebrating Student Success

February 02, 2021

Freedom Hill Elementary staff find innovative ways to encourage young writers and celebrate student success. Strong partnerships in the Collaborative Learning Team create opportunities for students to use Wixie, an online creativity tool, for students’ nonfiction writing.

Each First Grade student created an All About book in Wixie. They harnessed prior knowledge to showcase what they know about animals, foods, holidays, and more. Teachers collaboratively worked with students to refine their work and add appropriate details. Students brought their writing samples to life with images and their voice recordings.

The culminating event was a Writers Celebration where family members and school administration were invited to hear each student read. Students listened to their classmates as their work was proudly displayed in the virtual classroom.
