Technology
We've made great strides in incorporating technology into our classrooms. We believe that if our children are to excel in a fast-changing, global society, we must provide them with the technology resources they need to succeed in a digital age. As such, we are committed to creating a 1:1 device environment in grades PK-6 and supporting teachers and students with the training, support, and device access that is necessary to provide 21st learning opportunities to our students.
As part of our commitment to the FCPS Portrait of a Graduate initiative and our belief in the power of blended learning, Freedom Hill provides one laptop for every student in grades 1-6 and one iPad for students in grades PK-K.
Links to the most commonly used instructional software tools are listed and linked on the Digital Learning Tools page.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
Students are allowed to bring a personally owned computing device--including laptops, Netbooks, and tablets--to school to support their learning.
The use of student-owned devices is restricted to instructional activities under the direct supervision of a staff member. Participation in this initiative is strictly optional and only open to students in grades 2-6.
Fairfax County Public Schools and Freedom Hill ES are not responsible for any device, data loss, theft, damage or other associated costs of replacement or repair incurred during the school day as a result of participation in this program.
Maintenance and charging are the responsibility of the student. Devices may not be charged or serviced during the school day.
Students are NOT permitted to use cell phones and smart phones during the school day. They must be off and out of sight during the school day. Only the principal or the principal's designee can give a student permission to use a cell phone during the school day.
